What to look for in mp4, mp3 players depends largely on your own personal needs and preferences. Do you simply want to play your downloaded music files? Do you want to be able to watch movies? How much capacity do you need? Where do you plan to use it? Do you want to catch your favorite radio programs (in which case you'll need an mp3 player with FM)?

The Amazing Disappearing Hard-Drive Player

The two primary types of mp4 mp3 players are those that contain a hard drive, such as Apple's iPod, and the flash-memory type. The advantage of the former is storage capacity; an iPod easily holds 160 GB of data. They are also the largest in terms of size and weight. The latter type is lighter and smaller, but the tradeoff is storage capacity; no current  flash memory model has a capacity of more than 64 GB, and this capacity can fill up very quickly when you start loading up full-length videos.

On the other hand, the older type - which are becoming increasingly rare as manufacturers move toward the latter type - can be unwieldy and unsuitable for jogging, cycling, etc.

Film Buffs, Take Note

It is estimated that the average person spends the equivalent of seven years of his/her life waiting - in line, in airports, in doctors' offices, etc. An mp3 video player can help make such waiting a bit more pleasant. The only caveat is that most standard mp3 players have tiny screens that are really too small for comfortable viewing: you'll want one that is at least 2-inches diagonal, and larger if you can afford it.

What About An MP3 Player-Recorder?

This is a rare bird; not too many manufacturers have included portable recording capabilities, and even fewer provide products with an exteal microphone jack. There are however a number of models that have direct line-in input jacks, making it easier to record from a CD player, a stereo or any other media and covert them to any number of digital formats, including .wav and .wmp.

There is a workaround for people who wish to do some live recording with a microphone; just make sure that the mic in question is powered and able to use a direct line-in. Alteatively, you might consider a model with a built-in mic, though these are not suitable for anything other than voice recording.

The Marvel of the Touch Screen

Twenty years ago, most touch screen technology was confined to Star Trek episodes; it was rarely available in the real world. Today, touch screen technology is ubiquitous; touch screen mp3 players are the coming thing, offering many advantages over earlier models with tiny knobs and buttons.

Ipod Cases are a Must-have Ipod Cases are a Must-have by John Smi

Have you recently bought an iPod? Or are you on the verge of buying one?

Take a look around next time your out and about. iPods are becoming as prolific as cellphones. Of course they are! The iPod is such a great gadget! Do you know the first thing you must do after buying an iPod?

You need to protect it! Most people don't. Even though the iPod owner spends as much as $30 - $60 USD on iPod accessories. That's 30 to 60% of the original iPod price.

The majority of people are buying fancy accessories such as fm transmitters, docking stations, wireless remote kits. Don't get the wrong idea these are great gadgets BUT the first accessory you should be buying is protection for your iPod.

Get the basics before getting the fancy goods. iPod skins and cases come in a huge variety of styles and quality. Whatever your style - there is a case for you!

By purchasing a Skin or Case you'll be protecting your iPod from these common problems:

* Click wheel scratches
* iPod screen scratches
* Mirrored back scratches.

Despite the superiority of the Apple iPod, it still suffers from some major issues. Being easily scratched and short battery life. These issues lower the resale value of an iPod. This may not seem important but if you want to trade in your older one for a newer one, these things will matter. Aside from that, who wants their own pristine, beautiful iPod all scratched up? Every time you take your iPod out of your pocket it causes microscopic scratches!

There are many accessories out there but most do not fulfill the basic needs of your iPod. Protection. You need to protect your iPod before anything else. Make sure you first equip your iPod with a good quality case, skin, or sleeve.

The most popular iPod cases are as follows:

Cellphone sleeve converted to a case.
This is the most common and are most easily available. Unfortunately the mirrored back of the 3G and 4G iPod are easily scratched by the sleeve as the rub against it. If you can afford a 3G or 4G iPod then you can afford not to go this route. Protect your purchase and buy something specifically for your iPod.

iPod Silicone skin.
This is the most common case today. They come in every shape and size, color and texture. Be aware though there are mass produced low quality cases produced in China with questionable materials that tear easily. The cheap silicone skins also pick up dirt and lint easily. You can find better and branded products from the USA or Japan.

iPod Leather Cases.
iPod leather cases are also extremely popular. Unfortunately people have reported that the Apple branded one scratches the mirror back and does not have a cover flap. There are many quality leather case suppliers on the web. Check the stitching on the case for good workmanship. Belkin and Digital Lifestyle are a few that come to mind.

Water and Shock Resistant Cases.
There is an increasing need for these types of cases due to our active and mobile lifestyles. There are a plethora of cases in this market also but be forewaed that a case can only be water resistant not water proof. Water resistant means it can withstand water splashes certainly not to be immersed in water and definitely you would not bring diving! There are many aluminum cases available that offer superb shock resistance.

With the new knowledge you have, you are now ready to find the case that best fits your needs and most importantly your style! Happy case hunting.

How To Fight Against PC Meltdowns And Computer Problems How To Fight Against PC Meltdowns And Computer Problems by Kay Brenner

Precautions Against PC Meltdowns
Being an avid user of PCs most of my life, I've logged in enough time to experience my share of computer mishaps and catastrophes. The grin on my face soon fades into a disconsolate grimace when a disaster befalls my PC.

Sure, you can never install new hardware, neglect to calibrate your existing hardware, or vow to never install another piece of software ever again; but what fun is there in putting your PC into a fortified holding tank, protecting it like a child from the outside world? Obviously, there's no fun in this geezer mentality, so what does one do? Well, most of the PC Errors that seem to creep up just when you need your PC the most can be avoided, which means that if you experience a PC disaster, chances are that it's your own fault! A slow pc need a pc doctor to clean registry errors and other computer errors.

So, you've just installed a new graphics card, followed all the instructions during the software driver installation procedure, but now when you boot up your PC, it freezes! You may not have experienced an identical incident, but you've probably witnessed something of the like during your computer travels. First and foremost, remember this: take a deep breath and don't panic!

Windows has gotten such a bad reputation for being a shoddy operating system that, half the time, when something goes awry, the professional advice of the day is to perform a complete hard drive reformat and a clean install, a long procedure that can eat away many precious hours. This laborious task may be necessary as a last resort, but, by all means, don't become apprehensive at the first sight of trouble and nuke your entire system at the outset. There are a number of things one can try to remedy the situation, and if all else fails, then a clean install may be your final and best option.

Stop and Ask for Directions
If your computer is performing slow, you need computer help from an expert. I know, reading the manual is a blow to your hubris. But if you wish to resurrect your ailing PC, then this may be an excellent idea, as the cure-all may be nestled inside the pages of your instruction manual. Of course, there's scads of badly written documentation lurking about, but you're not reading for enjoyment; you're reading the manual to accomplish a task. Always remember: pulling out the manual for a quick perusal can never hurt and should be the first thing you do when trouble rears its ugly head.

Handle Delicate Equipment with Kid Gloves
Did that new fangled hard drive just arrive from newegg.com? Great, just remember to unpack it with care and not to throw it around. Always handle your hardware with respect. Most of today's gadgets are incredibly robust-flash drives, for example, can certainly take a beating-but one shouldn't throw caution to the wind when handling one's electronic equipment.

Elegant Operations: PC Upgrades
When sliding your PC's case off with the intent of installing a new piece of hardware, recall the oath that most doctors live by: DO NO HARM. This tenet can certainly behoove you when tinkering inside your PC. Take your time when installing new equipment, and never attempt to install something when you're tired or frustrated; take a 5 minute break and try it again when your mind is lucid.

Stay Organized
I can't count the number of times I've had to do a clean install and I can't find the recovery disks and all the software drivers for my hardware. And, of course, when I need to pop open my PC to install a new hard drive, that Phillips screwdriver always seems to elude me. Needless to say, this all can be prevented by keeping things stowed away and neatly organized from the get-go. A lot of frustration can be avoided by being prepared and organized.

Backup, Backup, Backup!
Lastly, if you desire peace of mind, always remember to backup all your important data. If you must resort to the ultimate option-a reformat and clean install of Windows-all your data will be wiped away into digital oblivion, and if you don't have a backup of all your precious files, you may wish to weep for several days, lamenting your lose. Always backup your data!
